Jafra Puerto Rico
Drew, Steve, Robin, Greg, Moses, Alex and I are all getting ready for our event next week in Puerto Rico. We’re producing the Summer Trip for Jafra’s Hispanic Division. We did this same event for Jafra last year but in Hawaii. This event is special — it’s on the island of Puerto Rico — a favorite for most of the 500 guests. We’ll be at the new Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa August 9-12th. It’s a fairly straight-forward event, however, we’re building a huge custom set for the awards gala and doing an interactive dance number complete with costumes, fog effects and lasers for the opening general session (Jafra has a few major surprises in store for its guests). The event also marks the first time we’ll be shooting an on-site highlight video using P2 technology (tapeless, via the HVX200). So we’re very excited about that.
However, things won’t be the same this year… Rolanda Rodriguez — the woman at Jafra who really made these events happen — recently passed away. It was a huge surprise to all of us. To be honest, I really haven’t had a chance to sit quietly and think about Rolanda (Drew and I missed the memorial service because we were in Peru with CHF). A part of me still can’t believe she’s gone. It’s very surreal. I know it’ll all catch up to me on-site… just before doors open or once the event is officially over, it’ll catch up to me.

Austin
Drew and I are in Austin filming some interviews for QU4D. This picture was taken using my iPhone during our flight (probably somewhere over West Texas during a lightning storm). You can barely make out the moon in the top of the picture.

Jafra Class Videos
Radar is in post production on two Jafra Class videos: one in English and one in Spanish. The two 20-minute videos were shot on DVCPRO50 and were lit by Darren Rydstrom. Both videos teach viewers how to host a Jafra Pamper Party and Class in their own home and the benefits of Jafra’s new product line (due to launch next month). Renee Raudman (Enlgish) and Raquel Fourmier (Spanish) served as Hosts with a cast of ladies that included Robin Phelps and Gigi Palomera. Filming took place over two days in Thousand Oaks. Radar in Peru
New pictures from our recent trip to Peru have been uploaded to the photo albums on the left. Out of 700 images, these were the best. Enjoy!
Harry Potter Premiere
Radar Creative was tapped by Wendy Creed Productions for the premiere of the latest Harry Potter movie last week. Radar’s Drew Lucas created 12 After Effects comps for 12 vertical plasmas that were designed to look like old picture frames. Each “painting” featured a character from the movie posing and looking directly into camera. Every once in awhile, a character would blink or slightly move its head as guests walked down the long hallway inside the premiere after-party (produced by Wendy Creed). Radar teamed up with Warner Bros. Visual FX house in London to accomplish the end result.
